Click photos for a better look at the recipients of the 2011 Watkins Scholarships and their thank you notes. At the bottom is my letter to Laura Powers, guidance counselor at Mancelona High School, who was instrumental in choosing the two lucky seniors.

The Watkins Family is proud to be able to give this gift of scholarship funds for Ms. Danielle Hoose and Ms. Stephanie Homan. We wish them well as they begin to pursue their degrees this fall.
We also look forward to continuing this tradition of providing scholarships for Mancelona students after our family reunion in 2012. It is especially gratifying to provide this educational opportunity in honor of Charles and Delphia Watkins (known to all their descendants as simply Mommie and Poppie), neither one of whom had more than a fourth grade education.
Our best to Mancelona on behalf of the entire family of our beloved Mommie and Poppie,
Their granddaughter,

Carolyn Haakenson Due
